My Home/My Life - A Challenge...Made By Annie Whitsed 2000
This piece was an email list challenge that came with a kit and the theme My Home/My Life.
When the kit came the fabrics were very neutral with a lot of whites and just not me colours but that was the challenge. I thought well I live in a white house so I designed it as a window so that the white fabrics would be like a frame with the coloured pieces in the window space, it wasn't what I wanted but time was running short and it was the best I had come up with but then I was chatting with a friend about using organza for water and then when I was thinking about it in bed that night my 2d design popped into 3d and became a book...That is organza appeared in the window of what became the cover and you can just faintly see the first page through it, when you open the cover you find the inside of a room and then the first page is an autobiographical crazy patchwork. The whole is constructed like a box with fabric hinges and measures 10 x 12 x 3 inches....
