An email list friend is having a baby and the Group is Making a Crazy Quilt.
The specifications were 6 inch finished size blocks done in White, Cream and Lemon with touches of Green and Apricot and embellishments suitable for a baby.
I Decided to Machine Embellish for Speed and Strength and It was a good opportunity to play with Machine Embellishing Ideas.
The bottom right Corner Fabric is from an old Nappy (Diaper)...Well it is White and about Babies.
The Yellow Brodeie Anglaise in the centre of this Patch was my mothers dress in the 1950's, Gathered Skirt on a little waist, I remade it as a long wrap around skirt in tthe 1970's and now it lives on in My Crazy Quilts.
The picture on this block was transfered on using a transfer Gel, it is not a good Method because it leaves the Fabric thick/Stiff/rubbery, I chose to use it for that reason, by then I had quit a textural thing going and I liked the smooth surface against the texture of the other Fabrics.
The Dimonty centred Flower in the middle of the Trail is from the Trim on my Deb Dress.
As for the Fabric with the Bunny on it, if I sent it to a thrift shop they would not hesitate in putting it straight into the Rag Bag but stained as it is, it is a very special piece of fabric, it is a piece of what remains of my Son's Security Sheet.
The White Broderie Anglaise Lace in the top right Corner is from the half slip Petticoat that I made in First Form High School.
The Fur Fabric on the right side is an off cut from a Teddy Bear that a friend made 18 odd years ago.
And you might be amused to take a second look at the Melbourne Logo, I cut it from an Aussie Print Fabric!!!But designed where?
